GRANITE

Granite is a compact, polishable rock with visible crystals, for decoration and/or building purpose. It is primarily made of Quartz (35%), Feldspar (45%) and Potassium. It contains very little calcite, if any. Granite provides a heavy crystalline and granular appearance with mineral grains that usually set in darker colors. It is a hard material and easier to maintain than marble. This type of stone comes in a variety of colors ranging from salt and pepper to reddish brown to jet-black. Granite has a very high density and low absorption. These qualities make it highly desirable for exterior walls and high traffic flooring in commercial projects. The low maintenance attribute of granite makes it one of the most frequently used materials for residential countertops.

    MARBLE

Marble is a stone to which we generally ascribe an essence of richness, luxury and eternity. It is a limestone rock, which is to say it contains at least 50% limestone carbonates that generally crystallize in the form of calcite or aragonite. So marble is a limestone which has been recrystallized. Marble ranges in many colors and is usually heavily veined and shows lots of grains. The brilliant colors and various crystal formations developed when different mineral properties blended together along with the integration of temperature and pressure. The veins and color grains of marble were liquid minerals that flowed through the stone when the Earth heated up.

  LIMESTONE

Limestone and marble are two geologically distinct stones. Although the two stones have similar chemical composition, the principal component of both being calcium carbonate, they are physically very different. Limestone does not show much graining or crystalline structure. Limestone varies in hardness and the more dense ones are capable of taking a polish. You may hear polished limestone referred to as marble. Common colors are black, grey, white, yellow or brown
